I did it. I successfully completed a second semester of nursing school.
Truthfully, it was HARD. This semester brought many, many trials that I had to work through. A few examples include starting the semester out newly pregnant and fatigued with very little motivation, my computer crashing and causing me to lose and rewrite a six-page paper during one of the busiest weeks, and getting in a car accident that took many, many hours of studying for finals away and that left me carless during the last week of school.
There were many days and many weeks that I just didn’t want to get out of bed and go to lecture. I didn’t want to do my assignments, I didn’t want to study, and I just simply didn’t want to do anything related to school. I will admit that there were many tears and many breakdowns. I don’t know if it was because of the pregnancy or if it was just simply because the winter break wasn’t long enough and I never recovered from the first semester. What I do know though, is that I struggled to find the energy and the motivation to keep moving forward.
I guess I had just enough to keep going though! I did not give up, even when every bit of me wanted to. No matter what curveballs life threw at me these past few months, I managed through them, knowing that nursing school is a priority. I would not and will not fail at becoming a nurse. I have made it this far…I can and will graduate.
The third semester, come January, will be even more difficult as I try and balance school, work, and motherhood, but I can do it. I will be taking off the Fall semester due to the baby’s arrival which gives me plenty of time to unwind. Yes, I am aware that the extra time off may make jumping back into the swing of things even more difficult, but if everything goes as planned, I will be graduating next Spring! God willing, by Summer of 2020, I will be working as an RN.
For now, I am just going to breath, relax, and focus on the September arrival of this baby boy of ours. I need this, my husband needs this, and our baby needs this.
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend everybody!
