Let’s talk plants.
Oh, and I’m going to start out by saying that while I enjoy flowers, I love plants. In my opinion, they are so much easier to take care of. I have three favorites: ferns, polka dot plants, and succulents.
Yesterday, I was feeling a touch of spring fever so I decided on going out and shopping for a new plant. After browsing through Bachmann’s, I came home with a new polka dot plant! I haven’t had an indoor polka dot plant yet, so we’ll see how this goes, but my one over the summer surprised me! It started as just a tiny plant to begin with and then it just flourished and grew quite big! I had kept it on my front, south facing porch and it felt like I hardly ever watered it, yet it still kept growing. It ended up freezing due to the cold in the Fall. I just love this plant though, it is so bright and cheerful! I think I’ll continue to educate myself on how to care for these so I can keep it alive and watch it grow. It makes me so happy to see a plant flourish, especially one this cute!
I adored the fern I had last winter, but unfortunately it didn’t last very long. I had accidentally placed it in a location that was just above a floor heater for the first couple weeks. Also, my living room doesn’t get tons of sunlight, so I am pretty sure that affected it too. Do you know the tricks to keeping a fern healthy? I want to invest in one again now that I have more living room space and could place it in a better spot. I wish I still had a picture to show you but I guess I don’t! Do you know if they are seasonal only?
Succulents are adorable. I love how small and delicate they are. However, they are another plant that I struggle with caring for! I chose succulents as our wedding favors (pictured below) and I couldn’t even keep mine alive for two weeks. That was pretty sad because I heard from other wedding guests that they still had their months later (at least somebody was letting our love grow)! With that being said, I haven’t dared get another since. Very temped though!
So there you are, my three favorite plants. I do enjoy other plants but mainly these three.
Are you an expert on plants or having any tips on caring for them? If so, please, inform me! I’d love to hear them so I can continue to care for mine.
