* It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year *

It’s December 10th and I haven’t written not one other post this month that hasn’t been about essential oils. To be honest, I need a break from them. So…i’m writing about Christmas of course! The most wonderful time of the year indeed.

It’s finally starting to feel like Christmas too with the colder temps and snow on the ground. This is seriously my favorite time of year. I love decorating for the season and I always do it immediately after Thanksgiving. As I look around my living room, I am enjoying the many shades of red (my favorite Christmas color), the Santas, the snow globes, the snowmen, the deer, and the lights. Basically anything related to Christmas is up, you get the gist. The best part though, is getting that tree up! This year, we got out first ‘real’ tree from a tree farm. I love, love, love it. It really does make such a difference. The look, the size, the feel, and the yummy smell! Yes, they are more work, as we had to buy a tree stand and skirt, our own lights, then had to string our own lights, and water it twice daily, but it’s so worth it! It’s fun collecting and hanging the ornaments too. Me? I like to decorate with many mismatching, Christmasy ornaments. That’s what makes a tree fun! There’s something about sitting around a real, lit Christmas tree…

Besides the house decor, there’s something magical about Christmas in the city. The lights, the busy but cheerful people, the music playing everywhere, and the whole spirit of it all! There is always such fun stuff to do in the city too. This evening, the hubby and I are going to go and see the 2017 holiday train as it stops in a nearby city. It’s supposed to be lit up and festive for the holidays and it stops in many different cities! I’ve never been so it should be fun to go.

Can you not get enough of Christmas music!? I practically play it all day long and without getting tired of it. I don’t even know if I can pick a favorite! I love them all. As I type here, I am currently listening to White Christmas.

There is so much more though than just the music, the lights, and the tree. It’s the little things that come with the season like baking Christmas goodies, giving gifts, the many holiday parties, peppermint everything, ugly sweaters, cute and comfy sweaters, Christmas stories, Christmas movies, bundling up in winter clothing, boots, hanging stockings, Santas everywhere, ornaments, hot chocolate, and so much more! Isn’t it not amazing? You can’t help but enjoy it all. I just had my first cup of hot chocolate the other day and it was so delicious!

As for Christmas traditions, I have a few. The month of the December always starts with an extended family party on the first Sunday of the month. It’s always fun catching up with cousins I hadn’t seen in a long time! The party consists of good food, good company, the Christmas text, and singing of Christmas songs. We have now started a tradition with my mom, sisters and nieces as well. Us five sisters, mom, and three sister in-laws exchange ornaments and the nieces exchange gifts. It’s so fun! It’s also another excuse to get together with family, exchange gifts, and eat yummy foods and Christmas goodies. On Christmas Eve, we get together with my large family of nine siblings, and many nieces and nephews. The evening always starts first with a Christmas service at church. Hence my coffee cup picture above, Jesus really is the reason for the season, for it is his birthday after all. His grace is our ultimate gift and it is important to remember our faith during this time. Christmas isn’t all about Santa and presents, it is so much more. After church, we always rotate getting together at someone’s home. The night usually goes late with dinner, dessert, the Christmas text, singing, Santa, gift exchanging, games, and visiting. Since being with my hubby, our Christmas day tradition has then been spent with his family. It’s always another fun day spent with family exchanging gifts and eating yet more goodies. Those goodies though! It’s no wonder people gain weight during the holidays…

I know I have already said it, but I absolutely love this holiday. My heart is always so full the entire month. It’s such a happy time of year. Tell me, what are you favorite Christmas traditions?
